Mr. Latimer is an expert in Affordable Housing. He founded Nashville’s oldest non-profit housing development corporation, Affordable Housing Resources, Inc. (AHR). Mr. Latimer created and or helped develop AHR’s lines of business. For over 25 years AHR’s HUD homebuyer education classes have helped over 16,000 people buy their first home. AHR developed a full cycle lending continuum offering various 1st mortgage loans and down payment and closing cost loans to first time, lower income, and minority homebuyers. AHR has been Nashville’s largest non-profit housing development corporation constructing and rehabbing over 1400 quality, affordable homes, and townhomes. During the recent recession AHR became involved with Homeownership Preservation. AHR was ranked second in the nation in 2014 by NeighborWorks America, for saving homeowners from foreclosure using a loan program (the Hardest Hit) and the NFMC program. AHR also assisted lower income community leaders to create computer labs, tutorial programs, housing programs, summer camps and summer job programs for urban youth.
Mr. Latimer is the Chair of the Housing, Councilors and Educators of Tennessee board, Chair of the National NeighborWorks Associations Lending Committee, the past Chairman of Tennessee Housing and Development Agency’s Board of Directors, amongst many other leadership roles locally and nationally. AHR has been nominated for two Fannie Mae Maxwell Award of Excellence and two HCA Foundations Awards of Excellence including winning the Frist Foundation’s Award of Achievement. AHR received national acclaim for its Row 8.9n townhomes for its urban renewal impact and design including being awarded townhome of the year for the National Home Builders Association and being nominated for HUD’s, Best in American Living award. Row 8.9n was featured in the National Building Museum.
