THE NEW FRONTIER MISSION

We believe thoughtful, creative decisions must begin with knowing our clients, where they come from, and what’s important to them. Design should tell a story, and our design begins with your story.

Our goal is to design and build a home to support the life of your dreams. We believe form and function should drive not only the design of each home, but every single detail too - we never compromise on quality.

We intend to drive the evolution of the tiny house movement by designing and building beautiful, custom tiny homes. We use only the finest material and highest standards of craftsmanship to execute our original designs. We’re inspired by your stories and hope to help fulfill your dreams.

With over 40 years of building and design experience and hundreds of full-scale homes completed, we bring a unique perspective to the challenges and opportunities of tiny houses. Our goal is to help improve lives by supporting economic freedom, intentional living, and sustainability. We believe that great design and quality housing should be affordable and attainable.

As to larger issues, we are deeply committed to and involved in ensuring that regulations recognize tiny homes as permanent residences in urban settings - both as single homes and within tiny house communities. Big change starts small, and we’re working tirelessly to bridge gaps and help individuals and communities achieve more together. We’re currently working closely with Metro Nashville to pilot a tiny home community in a neighborhood that supports it, and drafting an ordinance proposal. Our newsletter will permit you to follow this initiative. Please sign up today at the bottom of this page.

OUR BACKGROUND

New Frontier Tiny Homes is David Latimer, Zac Thomas, and Eddie Latimer with the support of an experienced team of like-minded, highly skilled individuals committed to making the best tiny homes possible.  Why did David get into tiny homes? We’ll let him tell you all about it.

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been obsessed with asking why. When things don’t make sense, I have a hard time following the rules; I believe broken systems should be fixed. We should be tirelessly improving the things we do, make, and belong to as individuals and as a society.
To me, tiny houses are all about living in a more sensible way - economically, socially, environmentally, and aesthetically.  I’ve lived all over the US in the past 10 years and have seen all kinds of change and growth firsthand. Nashville is no exception. While growth brings many positives short term, it can create many negative consequences over time. Property values skyrocket, house prices soar, and affordable housing availability evaporates. The absence of affordable and attainable housing is bad for any city - especially over time.
I believe everyone deserves to own a home - a beautiful home they can afford. Good design should be available to anyone, regardless of socioeconomic status.  Extra space you don’t need, won’t use, and can’t pay for should be a thing of the past; New Frontier Tiny Homes is about examining and improving our lives.
“The unexamined life is not worth living.”
